How this site started
Back in 2024, a total solar eclipse crossed a path through parts of North America, and pickleball players noticed something fun: for a few minutes, the sky went dark in the middle of the day. Some courts ran special eclipse day events to mark the moment, and this site started as a simple way to find and list those events.
The eclipse came and went, like eclipses do. But the idea behind it, pickleball under unusual light, stuck around longer than the event itself did.
Why we kept going
Once the eclipse was over, it was clear that the more interesting story wasn't really about one afternoon in 2024. It was about all the ways players were already experimenting with light, or the lack of it, on a normal pickleball court. Glow balls. LED paddles. Blacklight nights. Backyard courts strung with lights for an evening match. None of that needed a rare astronomical event to happen. It was happening anyway, every week, in towns all over the country.
So the site shifted. Instead of one event tied to one date, it became a place for anyone curious about playing pickleball after the sun goes down, whether that's a casual night session with friends or a full glow pickleball fundraiser for a local school.
What you'll find here now
These days, this site is focused on practical guides for night and glow pickleball. How to light a court without hiring an electrician. What actually makes a good glow ball. How to plan a fundraiser night that people will talk about for weeks. We try to keep things straightforward and useful, without overselling any one piece of gear.
If you're new here, a good place to start is our night pickleball setup guide, which covers most of the basics in one place.
Got a question or a correction?
Reach out here. We're always happy to hear from other players, especially if you've got tips from your own night sessions that might help someone else.
